velqazir Cane Woven Column Floor Lamp

Cane is a lamp about what happens to light on its way out. A tall cylinder of hand-woven natural rattan wraps a slim black steel frame; when the lamp is on, the weave throws a soft lattice of light and shadow across the nearest wall. It's the closest thing to a fireplace that a lamp can manage, and it's the reason people put this one in a corner they want to feel finished.

The rattan is split and woven by hand over a rattan core frame — no plastic imitation, no printed grain. Because it's a natural material, tone varies between batches: honey in one run, a paler straw in the next. We don't colour-match it, and we think that's the point. On top sits a natural linen drum shade, unlined, which lets the glow escape upward as well as down so the lamp lights the room rather than just the floor.

At 152 cm tall it's the right height for a reading chair — the bottom of the shade sits just above shoulder level when you're seated, so the light falls onto a book without glaring into your eyes. The woven column also makes it unusually good next to a bed: soft enough to wake up to.

Every Cane lamp carries a small woven velqazir label stitched at the shade rim, the same label you'll find on our pendant shades. It's a signature, and it's how you'll know it's ours.
